Meet the Interim Superintendent

Killingly Schools Interim Superintendent 

Dr. Diane Summa is the Interim Superintendent of Schools in Killingly.  Dr. Summa has a long career as a teacher, administrator, state consultant with the Connecticut Technical High School System and as an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.   She has spent over 37 years in public education in Connecticut.

Dr. Summa received her B.A. degree in Education from the former Annhurst College in Woodstock, CT.  She received her M.S. degree from Southern Connecticut State University, Advanced Studies in School Administration at Fairfield University and her PhD from Fordham University in New York City.

Dr. Summa began her career with the Waterbury Public School System as an elementary teacher, reading specialist, and the supervisor of educational grants and student assessment.   After 28 years in the Waterbury School System she became the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction with the Wolcott School System in Wolcott, Connecticut.  Dr. Summa spent a year with the Connecticut Technical High School System as the English/Literacy and Library Media Consultant.  In 2005 she became the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction with the Windham Public Schools.

Dr. Summa was also on the Killingly Board of Education for a number of years giving up her seat on the Board in 2019.
