Dear Killingly Community,

It is with pride and excitement that I am able to lead the Killingly school district as your superintendent.  I have been a member of this community since 1998 and I am proud to say my children are graduates of the Killingly school system.  I can attest first hand to the nurturing, respectful, and enthusiastic staff that support our students through their educational experience.

I am most excited about what the future holds for our school system.  It is obvious that our close-knit community is proud of our identity.  Killingly is a charitable, welcoming, and compassionate community that consistently strives to improve.

My unique experiences in Killingly as a citizen, parent, teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent within the Killingly school district has provided me with various vantage points in addressing the needs of our district.

There are many great initiatives and programs at each school in the district.  It is my goal to clearly communicate the success of students and to confront our challenges with conviction to continuously improve.

Our district has identified six core values that we believe truly make a difference in the lives of children:

  • Positive Relationships Matter
  • Adult and Student Empowerment Matters
  • Clear and High Expectations Matter
  • Continuous Improvement Matters
  • Shared Responsibility Matters
  • Focused Collaboration Matters

We are committed to make Killingly a district where everyone is proud to be a part of this community. Looking forward to a successful year,

Steve Rioux,Superintendent of Schools
