Transportation Information

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, and Students:

I want to thank each of you for your patience and kindness during our departments struggle to combat the COVID-19 outbreak that has been happening in our department over the last six weeks. We understand the lapse in service is hard on you and we are working diligently to get everyone healthy and back to work as soon as possible. We are currently recruiting new team members that require training for their CDL to operate our school buses safely. It is my anticipation that this recruitment effort will help us maintain full service year round for your students not only for home to school routes, but also for field trips and athletics. Currently we have six new drivers in training and should have them licensed and on the team over the next six to eight weeks. Please continue to check our website daily for route interruptions for the next day, we are anticipating having all routes back up after the thanksgiving holiday. We hope your families have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing you all back each day when we return from break.

All my best,

Parents or Guardians are required to be present at pick up and drop for students attending Pre-K through 3rd Grade.

Students in Grades 4 through 12 will be let off the bus without a parent present unless you have specified with the transportation office otherwise.

The transportation department has implemented cleaning protocols to ensure that all buses are thoroughly cleaned/disinfected daily and in-between runs. Parents/guardians are asked to help ensure that students always adhere to safety guidelines such as wearing a mask while riding the bus.

If you wish to know the specific route your child has been assigned to, you may call the Transportation Office at 860-779-6790. Schools will also have bus route lists available. Any questions or concerns should be directed to the transportation office staff.

Please have your child at the bus stop ten minutes prior to the pick-up time. We ask for your patience during the first couple weeks of the 2021-2022 school year as there may be delays, we want to ensure that everyone gets to and from school safely.

Some bus stops are congregate stops within safe walking distance. A great deal of effort has been undertaken to provide quality and timely transportation for all our KPS students.

If your student does not utilize the school bus to and from school, or if you need an alternate stop due to daycare we kindly ask that you contact our office to opt out of transportation or request an alternate stop. This helps us keep our route sheets and assigned riders accurate in the event of an emergency. This also helps us to give accurate pick up times for students who do utilize the bus.

Thank you for your help,
