Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
Posted to the right by school is information on the regular education routes. Please click on your child’s school from the list below to locate the bus stop nearest your residence. Route/Bus numbers are the same. In addition to the posted routes on KPS website, postcards with specific student pick-up/drop off information will also be mailed out to all parents/guardians.
The assigned route number will be posted in the bus window next to the service door when a different bus is used. Please refer to the route number as the bus number may be different.
The transportation department has implemented cleaning protocols to ensure that all buses are thoroughly cleaned/disinfected daily and in-between runs. Parents/guardians are hereby reminded to help ensure that students adhere to safety guidelines such as using mask, washing hands etc.
If you wish to know the specific route your child has been assigned to, you may call the Transportation Center at 860 779 6790/6791. Schools will also have bus route lists available. Any questions or concerns should be directed to Transportation office.
Have your child at the bus stop ten minutes prior to the pick-up time. We ask for your patience during the first couple weeks of the 2020-2021 school year as there may be delays.
Some bus stops are congregate stops within safe walking distance. A great deal of effort has been undertaken to provide quality and timely transportation for all of our KPS students.
If you have any questions, please call the Transportation department at (860) 779-6790 or 6791 between the hours of 6:00 a.m and 4:30 p.m.
The Town of Killingly is 50 square miles with 125 miles of paved roads and 9 miles of unpaved roads. This includes private roads. The Killingly Public Schools Transportation Department currently covers most of these roads four times a day during the regular school session. These roads are covered using 18 full size bus routes and five mini bus routes. Also, special education transportation is provided using five mini buses and four mini vans. We provide transportation to schools in Wethersfield, Hartford, and Willimantic, CT. Also, we provide transportation to Providence, Harmony and Warwick, RI and also to Watertown and Dudley, MA. The Killingly Child Care Program (Formerly BASP) and also the after-school enrichment program uses four buses. In the summer, the department historically provides three buses for Special Education Summer Camp at Camp Quinebaug and also three buses for Summer Recreation at Owen Bell Park and to the Hygeia swim area. The mileage traveled this year was approximately 650,000 miles.
