Exploring Our World

First grade is an exciting time in our young children's lives.  Both academic demand and social responsibilities have increased since kindergarten.  First graders are expected to communicate their thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways as well as continue to develop speaking and listening skills. These skills are taught through hands-on, minds-on, and engaging experiences through Reader’s Workshop, Writer’s Workshop, Purposeful Play, FUNdations, GoMath!, Second Step as well as every day learning experiences and opportunities. Here at KCS we have 9 wonderful first grade classrooms with highly qualified staff who love the joys of early childhood and elementary teaching.
