March 23rd, Message to Families

March 23, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Remote Learning Plans Available Online

As noted in a previous communication on Monday March 30th, Killingly Public Schools will be launching our Remote Learning Plan.  This plan is aimed at continuing education for students during our extended closure. For the week of March 23rd through 27th, we will be asking students to continue to access education through the online portals and utilize the learning materials which schools have already communicated and sent home.

Effective March 30, teachers and staff will adhere to a formalized schedule as outlined in each schools’ Remote Learning Plan.  An outline of the Remote Learning Plan for each school is now available here: https://www.killinglyschools.org/remote-learning-plans

Chromebook/Laptop Distribution Wednesday March 25th

We are working to develop a plan to provide technology support for those families who would benefit during a more extended closure. This includes issuing district devices to families and working with local internet providers to provide wireless access to high school families.

If you are in a household that needs a laptop to access learning, we will be completing a second distribution of devices on Wednesday March 25th from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  As you might imagine, large scale distribution requires a great deal of preparation.

Only families in Grades K-8 that responded to the online survey prior to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, will be eligible to receive devices in the second distribution.

As noted before, we are so proud of how Killingly Public School families, teachers and our staff members have risen to this occasion. We commend them for their dedication to students, their creativity and flexibility, and their kindness and caring.
