Welcome to my KIS webpage!! This is going to be an exciting year! Let me tell you a little about myself. I graduated from Eastern Connecticut University in 1998 with a double major. I earned a BS in Elementary Education and a BA in Studio Art. I obtained my Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy through Walden University online. I started my teaching career as a substitute teacher and then began teaching at KMS. I was there for about 11 years. I taught reading resource, then second and third grade. I am excited to now be in 5th grade here, at KIS!
My husband Clifton and I have been married for 21 years and we have three wonderful children. Our oldest son, Justin is in the Army National Guard! He wants to join the Police Academy when he turns 21. I am very proud of him! Brianna is an imaginative almost 16 year old who enjoys fashion and hanging out with her friends. She is a Sophmore at Woodstock Academy. Logan is my 'tough guy' - almost 12 year old who loves nature, riding bikes , football and basketball.
I come from a family of teachers as my maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather were teachers in the Plainfield area many, many years ago. I also have an aunt and unclewho are retired teachers; as well as a few cousins who are currently teachers.
Teaching has been my dream ever since I was a little girl. I believe that it is my responsibility to reach all of my learners in some way, shape and form.
Feel free to contact me through email at any time. I try to check and respond as often as possible.
Here is a quote from my favorite author.
“Honey is sweet, and so is knowledge, but knowledge is like the bee that made that sweet honey, you have to chase it through the pages of a book." - Patricia Polacco (taken from, Thank you, Mr. Falker )
