Greetings Killingly Central School Parents and Families!
I am overjoyed and honored to have joined the staff of KCS and to introduce myself as your new principal. What an exciting time to have joined this great community! With a newly reconfigured building, an exceptional faculty and staff, the addition of several new staff members, and an engaging and interactive new math program called “Go Math!”, I am looking forward to working closely with staff and family members to ensure that students are receiving a world class, high-quality, engaging education in a safe, respectful, and caring learning environment.
I am thrilled to be a part of your school, whose focus is tailored to the development of children in grades PreK-1. I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than fifteen years with a specific concentration in early childhood development, literacy development, and early intervention opportunities for children. I have also assumed numerous leadership roles within my previous district, which have prepared me to guide the amazing faculty of KCS. Under my leadership, I will work closely with teachers and staff to ensure that there continues to be a focus on Common Core skills, character education, the use of data to inform instruction, and that there is consistent implementation of exemplary instructional strategies to improve student achievement. I will ensure that this outstanding education is occurring by remaining highly visible and interactive in your child’s classroom and throughout the school setting.
Please be assured that along with teachers and staff, I will work tirelessly to continue to bring excellence to KCS by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners. As the African proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child”. As the parent of a 4-year-old preschooler, I value the importance of a strong home-school connection. My goal is to keep families consistently informed of student learning through monthly newsletters, a frequently updated website, and constant communication through email, phone calls, or person-to-person visits. By working together, we can make sure that your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met.
In closing, I want to thank each of you for entrusting me with the ever-rewarding role of working with your children and being your school’s principal. It is the result of the love of children that I am in this profession and I intend to bring that love and a high level of energy and enthusiasm to Killingly Central School. Please know that my door is always open to discuss any concerns or questions that you may have or to just stop in to say hello!
Emily Caviggia, Principal
