Happy August :-)
Welcome to First Grade: a busy, challenging and exciting year!
Our classroom will be continuing with a new learning adventure called Purposeful Play. I piloted Purposeful Play last school year and am excited to have the opportunity to have my new students experience it. Four to five days a week, the students will choose a play station to work together to make projects in art, blocks, Legos, and math/science.
Our classroom can be very warm. Dress your child in layers and you may send in a water bottle (one with a top that closes) to keep in class. We will also have a short snack break in the afternoon. Pack something small (no candy, please). Parents can send in a class snack like pretzels or goldfish to share with students who forget to pack a snack. I will let you know if we have an food allergies as soon as I have the information.
I use Classdojo, an app that allows me to share class pictures and vidoes. It is a closed group (by email invitation only). I had 100% participation from my last year's classroom parents and hope you will all join as well. Email me if you did not receive an invitation from me in the welcome letter sent home August 8th.
I look forward to getting to know all of you this school year. Enjoy the last few weeks of the summer break.
