NEW THIS YEAR:  Meetings will only be taking place once a month, roughly the third Thursday of the month, unless otherwise noted,  from 2:30- 4:00 pm (new ending time, as well!)  Officers will have additional meetings once a month before the school day begins (6:55-7:10 AM).  Please note the events within the meeting dates page so you are aware of your responsibilities for the year. If for some reason you cannot make the meeting, it is YOUR responsibility to let me or one of the officers know.  It is also YOUR responsibility to get any notes/or the agenda from the meeting.  I am looking forward to another exciting year filled with wonderful opportunities of service to others!
The Killingly Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society has been in operation since 1966. Currently there are 22 members, all 8th graders who were inducted into the chapter last April at the annual ceremony held in the KIS auditorium. The National Organization of Honor Societies governs our chapter and stresses the concepts of leadership, service, citizenship, scholarship and character. The KIS chapter has always strived to follow these concepts in its daily workings and many activities.  We have established Chapter By-Laws as well (click on the link listed).  Please note:  NJHS now meets once a month from 2:30-4:00 pm, unless otherwise noted.  At this time, the designated day of the week is Thursday.  Should that day of the week change (due to holiday, conferences, etc),  all members will be notified. The first meeting to take place will focus on the following: our joint venture with the high school honor society (our student council also helps out), affectionately known as "Think Pink," which took place on October 23rd this year, set up of the school store hours/workers, and sign ups for various activities and/or service projects.    We will continue to update this page to bring you the latest information. Be sure to check this website frequently.   If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me at mgardiner@killinglyschools.org    More information about the National Honor Society Organization can be found on the website www.nhs.us. Announcements may also be found on twitter- you can follow me at @Ms_Gardiner.  Looking forward to another service-filled year!  Mona Gardiner~ NJHS Adviser
