    Final News!!!
We are now in the final stretch.  Students are starting to make use of interventions and are actually taking their study guides more seriously.  Grades are on the way up!  I am still here after school on Mon through Thursday for make ups and extra help.  After school help is still available in the library (there are 3 math teachers in there) on Tues, Wed and Thurs each week.  Students must make use of intervention help prior to signing up for retakes. (retakes should be done within 5 days of grades posting in power school.)

All students will be taking the  STAR Math Test (computer test) for the last time this year in May.  This is a test given district-wide across all grade levels.  October provided us with base-line data to compare with data in January and again in May.

DISCRETE MATHEMATICS:  The students in this class just created games to celebrate 100 days in school and developed them for use by the Head-Start students at Killingly High School.  The high school students created the games, made the rules, practiced with their classmates and refined the games based on feedback.  Then on to the final test...the Head Start students joined us for several days and rotated through the games that had been developed.  The high school students played the games and interacted with the 3-5 year olds.  Once the children left the discrete students wrote reflection papers based on their 2 week experience.  We are now working on probability and statistics and will conclude the year with some more algebra skills.  Students will receive a study guide prior to exams and should work seriously on this review for the exam since it models the exam completely .

ALGEBRA 2:  This course is a study of various functions and the similarities and differences between them.  We have studied linear functions and  absolute value functions, quadratic functions, polynomial functions, square root and cube root functions, and will work with some rational function equations before working with our final unit of trigonometry before exams.  Students will receive a study guide prior to exams and should work seriously on this review for the exam since it models the exam completely .

Essentials of Algebra 2:  This course is a review of algebra skills learned in previous grades.  We have  studied slope , both x and y intercepts and  graphing linear equations. We are finishing our unit on solving systems of two linear equations by various methods and will conclude the year with a unit on exponents. Students will receive a study guide prior to exams and should work seriously on this review for the exam since it models the exam completely .
