Friends of Learning in Killingly (FOLK) Fund
Members and friends of the Killingly High School graduating Class of 1966 have formed the Friends of Learning in Killingly (FOLK) Fund to promote innovative school-based projects in Killingly. Each year since 2000 this Fund has awarded 5-10 grants to Killingly teachers to help them to:
- implement new curricula and pilot projects;
- provide enrichment, such as field trips or visiting artists and lecturers;
- receive professional development in innovative curriculum and instruction.
Mini-grants of up to $250 support innovative, effective, curriculum-enhancing, and school-based projects. Grants of up to $500 are available for collaborative proposals from 2 or more teachers, departments, or schools.
The FOLK Fund is managed by the Greater Worcester Community Foundation. Questions may be directed to Linda Chadwick at (508) 755-0980 or email.
Teachers my obtain applications and instructions at the Foundation Web site. Applications are accepted any time up to January 16th, for the current school year. An Advisory Committee of Class of 1966 graduates reviews the applications and determines funding. Priority is given to proposals that focus on student participation. Awards are announced in February.
