Welcome to Killingly Intermediate School

Dear Parent, Guardians, and Friends,

As many of you know, our very own Ms. Maher is the Killingly Teacher of the Year.  We are very proud of her dedication to the profession and her commitment to the success of the children in her classroom. Ms. Maher understands that educating children successfully requires that we reach each child emotionally, socially, and academically.  We also know that parent communication is critical and students’ attendance in school is essential.

Parent conferences are on October 11th and 13th.  This is earlier than our traditional November conferences.  Our hope is to establish family connections early in the year and open communication between school and home.  Our children are faced with many challenges and supporting them is a team effort between home and school.  Our team effort will help ensure their success.

During last year’s budget, funding for our KIS sports program was eliminated.  However, through the great fund raising efforts of some dedicated parents, we were able to support soccer and cross country this year.  The parent group, Save Our Sports (S.O.S), has a goal to fund winter sports and is holding a spaghetti dinner on October 1st at St. Joseph’s Church on Route 101 (Hartford Pike).  Tickets are $9.00 and can be purchased at KIS and at the door on October 1st.  A trail race is also scheduled for October 30th at Owen Bell Park. If interested, you can register at Killingly Parks and Recreation Community Center.  Donations for S.O.S. are also accepted at KIS.

Remind your children to read everyday.  Reading is great exercise for your mind!  We are all looking forward to another exciting year at KIS.

Stay Positive!
